Hi JessyCat, Car rental firms in Australia will require you to provide them with a current driver’s licence and the minimum age requirement with these companies is usually 25 years, however some local companies have a minimum requirement of 21.

Bug Australia However state that Anyone over 18 can drive in Australia with their local licence, providing it is valid and that you've been in the country for less than six months. If you’re spending longer in Australia you should bring along an international driving permit or apply for an Australian driver’s licence.

Seems to me that you should be ok if you are considering getting your own car!
