flinders range
Stretching over 430km from Port Pirie to Lake Callabonna, is the vast yet accessible Flinders Ranges. The Flinders Range is famously known for the characteristic landmark of Wilpena Pound, a fascinating natural amphitheatre.
The range is also in abundance of National Parks, beautiful walking trails, wonderful wildflowers, fascinating aboriginal heritage sites, beautiful gorges and unique scenery from mountain ranges to semi arid deserts.
The species found in The Flinders Range have adapted to the semi arid environment, where you will see stunning lilies, cypress-pines, ferns, sugar gums and guinea flowers. The best place to look for the wildlife is at the shimmering springs and waterholes, where you may see the charming yellow-footed rock-wallaby, handsome red kangaroo, striking fox or even the exceptional dragon snake, gallant wedge-tailed eagle or the colourful parrots.
