There are many different types of Australian visa applications.
Your length of stay and purpose of visit will effect
which one you apply for. For each visa the application
process varies as do the visa requirements.
Everybody travelling to Australia will require a visa,
unless you are an Australian or New Zealand passport
holder.
In the UK the most commonly applied for Australian
visas are the: Short Stay Holiday visa, Long Stay Holiday
visa and the Australian Working Holiday visa.
Australian Tourist Visa / Business
Visa Application (ETA)
The electronic visa application system for short stay
tourist visas and short stay business visas was introduced
in 1999. This means that Tourist visa applications can
now be made electronically which greatly reduces the
application processing time and removes the inconvenience
of having to send your passport to the local Australian
Embassy.
The Short Stay Tourist visa / Business visa can be
applied for online or through a downloaded application
form that is posted back to us. Confirmation comes in
the form of an email or; this is because the actual
visa is electronic and is assigned to your name on a
computer system.

Australian Working Holiday Visa
Application
The Australian Working Holiday visa application usually
takes around 48 hours to issue, however during busy
periods this can take slightly longer. It is a good
idea to get you Working Holiday Visa application in
early as the amount issued each year is restricted by

If you are aged between 18 and 30 and have no dependent
children then you are eligible to apply for a Working
Holiday Visa.

Long Stay Tourist Visa Applications
(Subclass 676)
If you wish to stay in Australia for more than 3 months
you will need to apply for the subclass 676 visa. The
subclass 676 visa replaced the long stay form 48 in
January 2006. The 676 visa is assigned to your passport
electronically, meaning that you no longer have to send
your passport to your local embassy for the physical
stamp.
